Brian Kiernan attended Rutgers University, earning a B.A. with distinction in economics in 1976. He then attended Seton Hall University Law School, where he received his J.D. degree in 1979, graduating in the top 10% of his class. He also earned the position of Editor-in-Chief of the Seton Hall Law Review for the 1978-1979 academic year. He served as law secretary to Hon. Arthur C. Dwyer of the New Jersey Superior Court, Chancery Division for the 1979-1980 court year. He then served as legal secretary to Hon. H. Curtis Meanor, in the United States District Court, District of New Jersey for the 1980-1981 court year. Mr. Kiernan then worked as an associate at a large Newark law office before joining with several former law school classmates in 1982 to form what has become Kiernan & Strenk. He was admitted to the New Jersey State Bar in 1979, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in 1981 and the New York State Bar in 1988. Mr. Kiernan was originally certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Trial Attorney in 1990 and recertified in 1997. His Martindale-Hubbell rating is AV. He has served also as a Court appointed Civil Arbitrator in Morris County.
Mr. Kiernan is the co-author of "General Partnerships," New Jersey Transaction Guide, Matthew Bender, 1983-1984 and is the author of Note, "Landlord's Duty to Mitigate Damages," 8 Seton Hall Law Rev. 736 (1977). He is a member of the Morris County and New Jersey State Bar Associations.
